It is possible that it was placed so that it could not be seen by Viking raiders, or that the church was built on the site of an earlier pagan holy place.

St Winwaloe church in Tremaine is one of the smallest parish churches in Cornwall, being just twelve feet wide and forty four feet long. The earliest parts of the church and its font are Norman. The church is simple and charming. It is in an elevated remote location in the beautiful Cornish countryside and surrounded by a graveyard full of wild flowers. The church draws people seeking peace and tranquility.

St Wulfram's slender and graceful spire, distinctively flanked by its four spirelets, would very likely have been the tallest in England when it was built in 1280-1300, and it is still one of the most elegant.

The story goes that St Wyllow, a Christian hermit, was living nearby in Pont around 596. Legend has it, that he was killed by a relative and beheaded. St Wyllow brought the head to the current location, thus deciding where the church should be built.

St. Adalbert Church was built between 1675 and 1681 to replace a small Gothic church, founded before 1350 and dedicated to Saint-Georges in the 16th century. The church is structurally incorporated into a Jesuit college.

The former St. Adelheid Church in Geldern, built in 1967-1968, has been transformed into a senior residential facility while preserving its architectural features, following a collaborative effort between the church and local authorities.
