St. Pölten Church was built in the 12th century as an integral part of St. Pölten Abbey, founded in the 8th century. The building was transformed into a cathedral church in 1785, after the dissolution of the monastery by Leopold II.

The church of St. Remigius is a Gothic basilica with three naves whose construction was begun in 1274 / 1275 by the Franciscan order. In 1689, the church was severely damaged by bombing by Brandenburg troops, and the roof of the church and its ridge turret burned down. The Franciscans repaired the roof and restored the interior in the years 1738-1748. The monastery was secularized and abolished in 1803.

St. Roch Church, consecrated in 1995, replaces an old building from the 19th century. The new church has the peculiarity of having been built in a former industrial shed. In 1862, a church had been built in the northern district of the city of Brussels, but it was heavily damaged during the bombing of the port of Brussels in 1943 and was then demolished in 1971.

After the former Emperor Wilhelm Memorial Church (1891-1895, Franz Schwechten) in Berlin was destroyed during World War II, a competition for its reconstruction was announced. The new church was built between 1959 and 1961 by Egon Eiermann as a modern counterpart of the remains of the previous historistic building. The iconic architecture and the damaged bell tower of the former church are world-renowned symbols of peace and reconciliation.
