Originally used as a collegiate church, it became a cathedral in the 18th century under Pius VI, following the creation of the Diocese of Tudela, formerly attached to the Diocese of Tarazona de Aragón.

The Tune church was completed in 1910 according to the drawings of Heinrich Jürgensen. The walls of the nave and tower are partly built with stone from the old medieval church on the site, while the choir and sacristy are constructed of brick and granite. The exterior of the church is characterized by neo-Romanesque forms from the second half of the nineteenth century, and the interior by neo-baroque forms with Art Nouveau elements.
