The church was built in 1851 on the ancient mound as a replacement for a medieval church with a saddle roof tower. The pulpit dates from the construction period. The organ was built in 1869/70 by the Adema Brothers for the Roman Catholic church in Kuinre and was placed in Burdaard in 1973 by W. Boegem. It has 14 voices. The rest of the interior dates from 1968. The two bells cast in 1638 were requisitioned by the German occupiers in 1943 and were not returned after the war.

The construction of Tui Cathedral began in 1120 and was completed in 1180 in Romanesque style. It was then rebuilt several times, especially in the Gothic style, such as the façade built around 1225.

Tunnsjø Church, formerly Tunnsjø Chapel, is a long church built in 1876 and designed by the architect Carl Julius Bergstrøm. The church is built in a neo-Gothic style.
