Uvdal Stave Church is probably from the end of the 12th century. In 1893, the congregation built a new church, and five years later, the Fortidsminneforeningen took over the old stave church. The church, which is cruciform with wide transverse arms to the north and south, has undergone several changes and additions, including the choir, has been expanded. The south portal is probably original, while the west portal may be from the 13th century.

In the space between the towers is a tall golden spire. Above the entrance door is a golden sculpture of the disciple Peter.
