It is currently the finest example of Romanesque architecture on the entire Adriatic coast, with walls decorated with 14th-century frescoes. Kragujevac Cathedral was the first church built in the Byzantine Romanesque style in newly independent Serbia (1878). It was built in stone and brick between 1869 and 1884 according to Andreja's design Andrejević. The project, as well as the building itself, was carried out in the spirit of the Russian National School, which, together with the Serbian style of the time, was an introduction to the Serbian-Byzantine concept according to the recipe of the Hanseatic school.

The Kraljevo Cathedral was built from 1824 according to the will of Prince Miloš Obrenović I of Serbia. Built as a church, it became a cathedral only in 1859. Until that year, the seat of the bishop and the consistory was located at Čačak. In May 1984, the restoration of the iconostasis of this church began. The renovation took several months and the work was completed.
