Choulou Mosque

It is very likely that there was already a mosque in the village at the beginning of the 20th century. The first reports of repairs date back to 1927. In the 1930s, the mosque was closed for a while because there was no imam in the village. Further repairs took place in 1938. The severe Paphos earthquake of 1953 also damaged the mosque of Choulou so badly that it had to be demolished. the structure found today was built in the years between 1954 and 1956; very probably according to a design by the Greek Cypriot architect Th. Photiadis, who had designed several mosques in a similar style in the area.

Pitargou Mosque

Based on the available sources, there were two mosques in the village. According to the cadastral map, the old mosque was located directly in the village centre. The building that is still visible today, which was a combination of a mosque and a school, was built on the southern edge of the village on the ridge.

Lapithiou Mosque

The existence of a mosque has been proven since the beginning of British rule, very probably already on the site of the present mosque, which is a combination of mosque and school. The building was erected between 1952 and 1954. Originally located to the west of the village, the mosque is now located to the east of the village centre after the 1953 reconstruction.
