Levide Church
Levide Church is one of the 92 medieval churches on the island of Gotland.
About this building
It has unique features that make it non-comparable to any other church style on the island. The chancel and apse of the church were built in the 12th century. The nave was built in the 13th century.
The interior was probably inspired by Visby Cathedral but also shows German influences. Some remains of wall paintings from the 13th and 15th centuries are preserved. Among the artefacts preserved in the church, there is a medieval processional cross from the 14th century. Its furnishings date mostly from the 17th century.
