St Mary's Church, Portsea stands on the oldest church site on Portsea Island, Hampshire, England, with a history stretching back to the 11th century. Archaeological research indicates that there was a church here in 650, although 1170 is the earliest date in recorded history.

There has been a place of worship in Goathland, on the North Yorkshire Moors, for at least eight centuries. The present building, which was completed in 1896, was designed by Mr Walter H Brierly of York who said of his creation: ‘The qualities of simplicity, breadth and sturdiness were felt to be especially required for such a bleak moorland situation, and were aimed at in the design'.

Standing in the market place, this is believed to be the third church built on the site. Built in the 13th century, the oldest part is the low tower which is surmounted by a small spirelet that is completely out of proportion with the rest of the building!

The Christian community has worshiped continuously on the site occupied by the church for well over 800 years. The first church may have built here in Saxon times, when Bristol first became a port. The original quayside was just across the road, below the red sandstone cliff from which this area gets its name. The present church is a treasure of international importance, a Grade I listed building that is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture.

The church of St Mary dates from 1150. It is believed to have been built by the masons that were employed by the castle and whether this is true or not what is certain is that it is the place where they would have worshiped.

St Mary & All Saints is one of the finest structures in Northamptonshire. It has much to offer visitors with it's royal connections. The church with its distinctive octagonal lantern tower stands between the River Nene and the Willow Brook and looks out across idyllic countryside. Mary Queen of Scots was executed at nearby Fotheringhay Castle. Richard III was born in Fotheringhay.

Wilmington is a Downland village of Saxon origin. The present church was first built around 1200 as a chapel to the adjacent Priory, the chancel being used as the monk's quire and the nave to accommodate parishioners. A notable feature of the churchyard is the ancient Yew tree, estimated to be 1600 years old, the trunk having a girth of 23ft.

The Mary church dates from the 14th century. In 1740, some baroque altars were added to the building. The church owes its current state to the renovation that took place after the earthquake in 1880.

St Mary in the Baum, on St Mary's Gate, was founded in 1740 as a chapel of ease to minister to the people living north of the River Roch. Today's church, designed by eminent church architect Sir Ninian Comper, was opened in 1911, described as 'a place rich in Comperisms'.

St Mary's church is the oldest parish church in Stockport. It stands in Churchgate overlooking the market place and is Grade I listed. A church was on the site by 1190 but of this church only the original oratory (which is now an annex to the vestry) remains.
