The church of Rijswijk is mentioned in 1369 when Willem VI van Horne, Lord of Altena, gives goods in fief to Vastraet van Giessen, including the ferry of Andel that lies between "Veenregraven" and the church of Rijswijk. From the church visitations of Bishop Metsius it can be concluded that the church is dedicated to St. Stephanus. Historians estimate this church to be very old. During research and excavations, the foundations of a tuff stone hall church from around 1100 were exposed, with a tower on the west side. This old church must have been badly damaged by the many floods of the Maas in the middle of the 13th century. The restoration will have taken place around 1265, after the church hill was first raised considerably. The battle against the water appears to be an eternal one for the church. After repairs were made with great difficulty in the 16th century, the old church succumbed during the flood of 1809. The church was demolished down to its tuff foundation. Much later, a new church was built on the same site, of which the following was written in the middle of the 19th century: "The church stands outside the dike in the Rotgans. It is old and not very large and has a long tower, flat-roofed on top, but is not equipped with an organ. The choir has completely collapsed, except for a few pieces of dilapidated masonry."

Reformed Church. In the rear facade of the church built in 1869 two stones; one with the coat of arms of the united provinces, below that a text concerning the construction of the fortress by Willem Lodewijk and the putting into defensive condition in 1593. The church has a 17th century pulpit, a credo board from around 1600 in the form of a triptych, a copper crown and some 18th century tombstones. In 1296, a parish in Sint Kruis was first mentioned, which was subordinate to the Ter Doest Abbey. Due to flooding, partly as a result of the Geuzen breaching the dikes in 1584 to stop the Spanish troops, the area was flooded and was not drained again until 1651. The current church building dates largely from the 14th century and initially consisted of a single-nave church with a tower. In 1467 and 1483, the church was enlarged to a three-nave church with a choir and transept. This church was badly damaged during the Dutch Revolt, but in 1652 it was restored to serve as a Reformed church building. What remained was a single-nave church with a straight-ended nave and the tower. Another renovation took place in 1872. In 1944, the church was badly damaged by war violence and was restored in 1948-1949.

Reformed church built in 1916 to a design by architect J. Beijlevelt from Amsterdam. An anonymous donor from the Soest area made the foundation of the church possible through a donation. The peat colony canal village, located in one of the younger development areas, emerged from the foundation of the Reformed Church in 1915.

The 19th century tower is the youngest part, the choir is early 16th century. But then the nave: tuff stone and completely Romanesque, clearly recognizable by the arched frieze decoration and the small round arched windows on the north side. For more light, larger windows have been installed in the south wall. Inside is a remarkable church council bench, perhaps a former communion bench.

Herv. Church on Cemetery. The simple church was built in 1758. The pulpit has 17th century panels on the tub. Single manual organ, made in 1900 by Bakker and Timmenga. Bell tower with Stephanus bell, 1342, diam. 92 cm. Mechanical wrought iron tower clock, 17th century, restored in 1981. In the cemetery large 16th century gravestone.

NH Church. Square brick building from 1693 designed by Johan van Swieten. Square, domed covered bell chamber on the roof, which is supported internally by four wooden columns. Against the rear facade a square staircase tower. Above the entrance with natural stone frame a niche, in which a natural stone cartouche with inscription: 1693, and the coat of arms of the king-stadholder Willem III, by the sculptor Jan Blommendaal.

This was an interesting church in neo-Gothic forms. Out of use 1964, scrapped in 1965.Replaced by a modern church building.

Fairly wide church, the north facade of which dates back to the 13th century, and the west facade, which was bricked up in the 20th century (1924), consists of even older tuff stone masonry. South facade Gothic, choir closure 1909. Pew, tombstones and memorial stone 1829. Bell tower with bell by Johan, 1498, diam. 90 cm. Mechanical wrought iron tower clock, 17th century?, has been decommissioned.
