The reformed community of Oudega has decided to give the old reformed church its own name. In doing so, the reformed community follows the reformed church in Oudega, which named its building It Ljochtbeaken. The reformed may give their church back its old name: Sint Agathakerk. According to the Roman Catholic Church, Agatha was a saint who was tortured because she refused to sacrifice to pagan idols. This church is listed as a National Monument of the Netherlands.

Sint Ceciliatsjerke

Large Gothic church in two periods, built at a large 13th century brick tower, completely closed at the bottom. In the church pulpit with baptismal fence, lectern and ornamental vases, baptismal font arm; two lord's pews, three copper crowns. Original organ with a keyboard, made in 1813-1814 by JA Hillebrand. In 1831 extended with a Lower Positive by W. van Gruisen. Bell tower with bell by Gebr. van Bergen, 1909, diam. 108 cm. BECAUSE of the original inscription and coats of arms of the recast bell by J. Balthasar, 1668. Mechanical wrought iron tower clock, has been decommissioned. This church is listed as a National Monument of the Netherlands.

Extremely important, non-oriented, large magnificent church with tower. This is the largest "Bellotian" church building in the Netherlands - that is, the architecture of the church is influenced by the school of the French Benedictine monk and architect, Dom Paul Bellot (1876-1944). The also Bellotian RC Oratoire Saint Joseph in Montréal and the basilica Notre Dame du Cap near Trois Rivières, Quebec, Canada, are larger. Also the St. Chrysole in Comines, France, designed by Bellot himself, is larger.

The Sint Genoveva church in Jelsum dates from the core of the twelfth century and was built in the Romanesque style of tuff stone, which is still clearly visible on the north side. The brick choir dates from the fifteenth century and has Gothic windows. Among other things, the well-known theologian Balthasar Bekker is buried in the church.

The Peins church is partly made up of tuff, which indicates that there was already a church in Peins before 1200. The current building dates from the fourteenth century. The church tower was demolished at the beginning of the 20th century due to collapse.

The church was built around 1500, and probably enlarged later. The tower dates from 1744 and was built thanks to a contribution from Ayzo van Boelens and his first wife Rinske Lycklama a Nijeholt. A memorial stone above the entrance is the tangible proof of this.
