The Basilica of the Apostle Saint Thomas, or Ortona Cathedral, dates back to the early Christian period but has been rebuilt and re-sacred several times. The building suffered a fire and was destroyed by the troops of the Ottoman Admiral Piali Pacha in the summer of 1566. Four years later, the temple was dedicated to the apostle St. Thomas and was raised to the rank of a cathedral. It was last re-inaugurated in 1949, after being destroyed during the Second World War.

Notre-Dame d'Orval Abbey, generally called Orval Abbey, is a Trappist monastery. Founded by the Benedictines in the 11th century, it was attached to the Order of Cîteaux in 1131. Secularized at the end of the 18th century, the buildings were then abandoned. In 1926, the monastery was rebuilt and in 1936, the monastery regained its status as an abbey. The abbey is known for its brewery, which has been operational since 1931.
