The church was first mentioned in the 11th century. Before that, there must have been a wooden building. The tower is 11th century, the nave Gothic (ca. 1400) and the choir 100 years younger. The church became famous for its tapestries, which were knotted by the Drempt neighbourhoods in the sixties to improve the acoustics. Those problems with the resonance arose after a renovation of the church. (Source: 10 jaar Kerkenpad, Gé Verheul)
