Heilige Agnes
s-Gravenhage, NL
Roman Catholic parish church of St. Agnes, built in 1902-'03 for the Catholic population in the Regentessekwartier, which was created at about the same time in The Hague. Three-aisled neo-Gothic cruciform basilica with octagonal tower with spire to the right of the front facade. Wooden barrel vaults with accolade-shaped cross-section over the main aisles; side aisles with stone cross-rib vaults. Stained glass windows in choir and transept, made in the period 1920-'30 by the Hague studio Asperslagh. The whole is a characteristic work of the well-known Rotterdam office Margry & Snickers, built in a free interpretation of the early French and late English Gothic.
