Holy Trinity Church, also known as Father Mathew Memorial Church, is a Roman Catholic church belonging to the Capuchin Friars Minor order. The church was built in the Regency Gothic style between 1832 and 1890. This long period was due to the great famine (1845-1852). Theobald Mathew, from whom the name of the church is derived, arrived in Cork in 1814 and worked hard to improve the conditions of the city's poor and initiated the present church. However, Father Matthew never saw the building completed as he died in 1856.

The decision to create a church in this developing neighbourhood dates back to 1861. It is the work of the architect Théodore Ballu who orchestrated the work from 1862 to 1867. He had previously completed the neo-Gothic church of Sainte-Clotilde and after 1871, he rebuilt the Town Hall destroyed during the Commune. The Trinity Church is, along with the Church of St. Augustine, the most famous religious achievement of the Haussmann period.

Holy Trinity Church was built between 1997 and 2003. The icons are by Kalchev of Gevgelija, and the frescoes are the work of world-famous Ukrainian masters: Dimitri Nagurni, Vladimir Nedajborch, Viktor Blinov, Jura Levchenko, Vladimir Cach, Vladimir Bovhun, Larisa Mishchenko, Ljuszko. The church, in its architectural design, belongs to the type of single-nave churches with a cross plan and a vaulted dome partly designed in the Byzantine style.
