The Metropolitan Cathedral of Iași is one of the six Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedrals in Romania. It was built from 1833 to 1887 on the site of two old churches: the White Church (15th century) and the Stratenia Church (17th century). The interior painting was carried out by master Gheorghe Tattarescu (1820-1894). In 1889, the relics of Saint Paraskeva of the Balkans, the protector of Moldavia, were placed in the church.

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Timisoara was built between 1936 and 1941 and is a symbol of the city. This gigantic project was led by Ioan Traianescu, the architect of many other major Orthodox churches in Romania. The construction of the cathedral, which has a capacity of 5,000 people, is part of an effort to promote Orthodoxy on the territory.

This cathedral, near the ancient quarter of the city of Larissa is dedicated to the city's patron saint, Achillious. Achillious was the region's local representative at the Council of Nicea, who died in Larissa. The church contains the remains of the saint and is an important pilgrimage site.

The Metropolitan Church of St. Nicholas was built between 1928 and 1934 according to the plans of the architect Aristotle Zachou. The church rests on the foundations of an older temple that was burned in 1898. Its baroque belfry was built between 1886 and 1890 by Italian craftsmen. After being severely damaged by the 1980 earthquakes, it was restored with the same marble in 1999.

Metten Abbey is one of the oldest in Bavaria, having been founded in 766. For centuries, under the protection of the Bavarian rulers, the abbey trained renowned philosophers and theologians. In 1803, the abbey was secularised and the monks were expelled. Bought by Johann von Pronath, Lord of Offenberg, he persuaded King Ludwig to open a school in the Benedictine tradition. After years of hardship, Metten was re-established as an abbey in 1840. The abbey library in the east wing is a jewel of Baroque architecture and contains more than 200,000 books and manuscripts. Built between 1720 and 1722, its stuccoes are the work of Franz Josef Holzinger and the murals of Innozenz Anton Warathy.

Although the construction of the cathedral Saint-Etienne of Metz extends over three centuries, from 1240, the cathedral presents a nice homogeneity of style since the stylistic criteria were respected at each construction stage. The cathedral has been classified as a historic monument since 1930.
