Parish Church of the Holy Cross, Diksmuide
The historic church of the Holy Cross in Diksmuide has been desacralised since 2018. It has been repurposed to serve as a resting place with 120 niches to place urns in. In 2023 works began to open the church tower to the public. This one will offer a 360-degree panoramic view of Lampernisse
About this building
The first church building was constructed in the 13th century. The church was damaged during the French Revolution. In the 19th century the church was renovated and opened again to worship. However the building was destroyed during the First World War. It was reconstructed again in the 1920s. The church is no longer used for worship. It has become an urn church and its tower will be open to the public as a view point of the area around Diksmuide.
