The village church of Gelmeroda was built from the 13th century. At the beginning of the 13th century, the oldest part of the choir tower church was built. The nave was built in the 14-15th century and rebuilt later. During the GDR era, the church was abandoned. The citizens of the village and the surrounding area became active as members of an association and saved the building from decay. After extensive renovation work, the church was consecrated again in 1991 and in 1994 it became the first church in the new Länder to be granted the status of a motorway church.

Villers Abbey was founded in 1146 by Bernard de Clairvaux and was one of the first "daughters" of the Abbey of Clairvaux. After a period of decline from the 14th to the 17th century, the abbey experienced a second golden age in the 18th century when some of its buildings were refurbished in the neoclassical style (facades of the church and the convent building). Sacked by the French Revolution and then confiscated by it as national property, its monks were then expelled and its estate sold in lots.

Villingen Cathedral was begun in 1130 in the Romanesque style and completed in 1284 in the Gothic style, but it was later enlarged due to the fire of the town of Villingen in 1271, which had destroyed part of the cathedral. Two 50-metre high towers were added in the 15th and 16th centuries.

The church of Vilnes is a wooden church dating from 1674. The church was restored in the 1950s when the roof and walls were insulated and light and heat were installed. The 17th-century church replaced a pre-1320 church that had burnt down in 1673.

The current building of Cathedral Basilica of St Stanislaus and St Ladislaus of Vilnius (or just Vilnius Cathedral) dates from 1783. Throughout the 13th century, the site of the church was disputed between the Catholic Church and the ancient Baltic paganists that owned a temple there. A church was permanently installed in 1387.

The Vingelen church is a typical long church built in 1880 according to the drawings of the architect Henrik Nissen. In 1925-26 the interior was extensively decorated by Ragnvald Einbu with local biblical and historical scenes.

The church in Vinger, consecrated in 1699, is a cruciform church with a tower to the west and a vestry on the north side of the chancel. It is built of timber by the builder Peder Gundersen Norigarden. The church is panelled on the outside and inside.

The Vingrom church is a long church built according to the drawings of Fin Wollebæk and probably H Jürgensen. The church is clad with exterior panels. The church is an early example of national Romantic architecture inspired by Norwegian churches of the 17th and 18th centuries.

The church in Vinje is an octagonal wooden church dating from 1820. In 1674, the church was described as so precarious that it had to be demolished, and the following summer a new building was constructed. Gerhard Schønning visited the place in 1773 and made a drawing of the church at that time. It was a simple long church with extra choirs and, according to Schønning's drawing, it had roof railings and small windows.

The Vinje church is a long wooden church built in 1871. The architect of the church was the builder Ole Vangberg. Vangberg also designed the church in Oppheim, which was built in the same year as the church in Vinje.
