The church of St. Francis was built with a convent in the 13th century, forty years after the saint's death (1181- 1226). The convent of San Francesco became an important spiritual centre in the 17th and 18th centuries. The wing of the former convent, transformed into a court of law, was burned down in 1912.

Contemporary church, since it began in 1969. Its architecture is strongly inspired by the churches of the Camargue.

It is said that the Saint Francis church has been founded after the return of Saint Francis from the East, but the building actually dates from the 13th century. After the earthquake of 1880, the church was rebuilt in neo-gothic style and the baroque altars were removed. Next to the church lies an abbey from the 17th century, but it is believed that Saint Francis (1181-1226) has stayed here.

St. Francis Xavier Cathedral is a Catholic religious building built in the Baroque style from 1678 to 1683 as the church of the adjacent Jesuit college. It was raised to the rank of a minor basilica in 1990 and became the cathedral of the diocese of Grodno in 1991. The church was used as a museum from 1960 to 1988 and was returned to worship in 1988 during the period of perestroika.

The parish church of St. Francis Xavier was built from 1660 to 1665. After the abolition of the Jesuit Order in 1773, it was no longer used and in 1811 it was transformed into a parish church. Its interior has remained practically unchanged since the 17th century.

The tent-like church of St. Gabriel was - as one of the first churches in the German Democratic Republic (DDR) ever – primarily assembled from prefabricated concrete parts. It was built in 1970 by architect Peter Weeck in cooperation with the artist Friedrich Press as a Gesamtkunstwerk (synthesis of the arts).

The Cathedral of St. Gallen, built in 1755-1772, is part of the monastery complex of St. Gallen. The collegiate church was registered with the abbey district in 1983 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

St. Georg is one of the twelve major Romanesque basilicas in the Old Town of Cologne. The construction of the former collegiate church began in 1059.

St. George's Basilica, located within the walls of Prague Castle, is one of the oldest churches in the city. It was founded in 920. The building now houses a museum and concerts.

St. George's Cathedral has been the Catholic Cathedral of the Diocese of Syros and Milos since 1652. Built around 1200, it has been rebuilt several times since then. In 1617 it was destroyed by the Turks. It was last rebuilt in 1834.
