The current building of the Timios Stavros Monastery dates from 1816 and replaces an old Byzantine church. Today, the monastery has a dual use, as a parish church and as a museum of Byzantine icons.

St. Petri's Church or Old Church of Tingelstad is a medieval stone church probably dating from the first half of the 13th century. The church was probably built as a private church and is dedicated to St. Peter. The 17th-century furnishings are largely unchanged since 1699 and in good condition.

The Tingelstad church was built of unpainted red bricks according to the drawings of Schirmer and von Hanno. The church is characterised by neo-gothic forms and is relatively large and richly designed. In 1925, the slate at the top of the tower was replaced by copper. In 1958, the church was extended with a baptismal waiting room on the first floor and a chapel in the basement.

During the 12th century, a wooden church was built on the site where the current building stands. The building was replaced by a Romanesque church. Only the portals of that church have been preserved. During the 13th and 14th century, the church was reconstructed into a Gothic style building. Since then, only a few alterations have been made. In the Middle Ages, the church was one of the three asylum churches in Gotland. These buildings were places where suspected criminals could find refuge while they awaited their trial.

Tingvoll Church is a stone church in Romanesque and Gothic style that was built around 1200. The walls have an extensive system of corridors, possibly for liturgical use, which is unique to church buildings in the Nordic countries. An exterior balcony high up on the choir wall also makes the church special. The interior is rich. The pulpit is from the late Renaissance (around 1660) with figures from the Spanish Baroque.
