Built around 1020 by Guillaume de Bellême. It owes its name to its location on the banks of a ford in the Varenne river. It saw manants, noblemen and high dignitaries passing by on their way from Paris to Mont Saint-Michel. William the Conqueror, Henry II, who often stayed in Domfront, stopped there.

The church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción was built in the 16th century in the Herrerian style on the site of a church built a century earlier. In the 18th century, a choir and tower were added. During the 19th and 20th centuries the church suffered three calamities : in 1891, a main arch collapsed, which made it necessary to dismantle the Gothic ribbed vault; in 1936, shortly after the outbreak of the Civil War, the parish archives, the liturgical trousseau and some of the furniture were burnt, and the space was used by the Republican army; finally, in 1949, the explosion of a nearby military powder magazine seriously damaged the fabric of the church, which had to be restored.

Built in the 15th century, Notre-Dame du Sablon Church is located in the historic center of Brussels. In bad condition by the 19th century, the church was restored (1895-1912) and classified National Monument since 1936. The church is of significant importance for the town as the starting point for the historic Ommegang procession. The Sablon church was also the place of worship of the military guilds of the city of Brussels. Each of the guilds had an altar dedicated to their patron saint: Saint Christopher for the harquebusiers, Saint Michael for the fencers, Saint Anthony and Saint Sebastian for the archers and Saint George for the small crossbowmen.

The Church of Our Lady was first mentioned in 1205, it was subordinate to the Augustinian canonical monastery of St. Frei. After the devastating city fires, a new building was erected between 1450 and 1520 as a church in late Gothic style. In 1547, the spire was destroyed by lightning. Subsequently, the tower received its octagonal top and in 1549 the gilded knob of the tower with weather vane.

The Church of Our Lady Immaculate is a neo-Romanesque church was built in 1854 for the Capuchin fathers who made it their parish. The church is a Catholic parish. In 1587, the Capuchin fathers settled in Brussels. They remained there for a little over two centuries. At the end of 1796, during the French revolutionary period, their convent was confiscated and publicly sold by the French as 'national property'. In the 19th century, in 1852, the Capuchins returned. They settled in the heart of the city, near the Place du Jeu de Balle, in the Marolles district.
