The church in Sande was built in 1880. The oldest known church on this site, mentioned in 1329, was a stave church. The new church was damaged by a storm in 1907 when the spire was destroyed.

The church of Sande is a medieval stone church with a rectangular nave and a narrower, lower but elongated choir. The church is first mentioned in 1387. In 1783 the church burnt down and apparently, only the walls remained. During the next eight years, the church was rebuilt.

The Sandefjord church, completed in 1903, replaces a small white wooden building from 1872. This old church was damaged by the town fire in 1900. The new church was designed by architect Karl Michalsen.

The church of Sandeid is a wooden long church built in 1904 on a former church from 1814. This old church has itself replaced a stave church.

The Sandnes church was built in 1845 according to the drawings of Eiler H. Holtermann. The church has a narrower and lower sacristy extension to the east and porches to the west. The church and its extensions have a thatched roof with a patchwork pattern. A tower with a square pyramid-shaped helmet with pins rises above the western part. In 1964-65 the church underwent a major restoration. The interior was renovated and modified, among other things, the pews of the church were removed and new ones were installed.

The Sandnes Church is a long church with neo-gothic forms, built in 1882 from plastered bricks according to the plans of the architect H. S. Eckhoff. In 1949 the tower was raised and equipped with four small towers around the lower part of the tower cap. The main door with the frame was rebuilt in 1953, designed by the sculptor Ståle Kyllingstad, with ornaments and figures in terracotta.

The Sandnes church is an octagonal church dating from 1844. The church was built by Anders Thorsen Syrtveit according to the design by Hans Ditlev Franciscus von Linstow. It was first built on Sandnes in Bygland and was moved to Åraksbø in 1935.

Stamnes Church in Sandnessjøen is a wooden panelled church built in 1882 according to the designs of the builder Markus Grenstad. The basic plan is cruciform, but with broken corners, so that the central part forms an octagon. The church is characterised by a neo-Gothic and Swiss-style and has a tower above the centre. It is painted white and, because of its visible location on a hill right next to the shipping lane, it has been called "Helgelandsbruden".

Sandstad Church was consecrated on 11 July 1888. The drawings used for the construction of the church are the same as those used for the construction of Hallaren Church on Frøya seven years earlier, made by the architect Henrik Nissen. In 1954-55 a major restoration was carried out.

Sandsøy Church was built in 1888 and designed by architect Ole Scheistrøen. The previous church in Sandsøya was built in 1765 and moved to Bjarkøya in 1886. Part of the interior of the old church was later returned to Sandsøya, and is now in the present church.
